Patriots Pay Tax
In 2016 we started to change the narrative on tax. Speaking to an audience that understands what it means to be a patriot, but might see tax as a burden; we’re here to say it’s a priviledge, not a curse, to pay your taxes. Our members are proud of their country and proud to pay tax to support a better society.
John McDonnell MP, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, used his 2016 Keynote Conference Speech to thank our Chair Jonathan Reynolds MP (part of the Shadow Treasury Team) and Christians on the Left for our work creating and promoting the #PatriotsPayTax campaign and for our involvement in the Labour Movement.
Hundreds of Labour Party Members signed our boards at Labour Party Conference, as well as many non-Labour members who agree that we all:- individuals and corporations, should pay our fair share of taxes. Throughout 2016 and 2017 we campaigned and right through to today, Christians on the Left and the Labour movement believe that taxes can be used effectively for the benefit of the whole of society.
In 2020 and beyond we continue to campaign for reform, through our members efforts and in partnership with our friends at organisations such as War on Want, the Robin Hood Tax, the Tax Justice Network, Fair Tax Mark, Church Action for Tax Justice and the Trade Justice Movement.
